NetFoundry offer a unique solution designed to make the installation of applications into network infrastructure easier for IT teams, whilst leveraging the benefits of a zero trust security design. The solution may be a good fit for growing companies looking for a very agile solution, capable of scaling applications quickly and with requirements for zero trust and cloud and IoT security. However, the solution is designed to be an alternative to SD WAN and therefore clients looking for a more robust global network may not find NetFoundry’s solution to be aligned with their business needs.

NetFoundry is an American Zero Trust networking vendor based in Charlotte, North Carolina, with offices in San Francisco, Austin, New York, London, Bangalore and Singapore. NetFoundry’s platform is designed to help IT engineers to install applications into their network by creating specific networks (AppWANs) designed to fit application needs. The company also offers solutions for IoT and cloud security.
List of the pros and cons associated with NetFoundry zero trust.
NetFoundry’s Zero Trust solution offers a number of features to secure networks, the cloud, IoT, SD WAN, MPLS and VPN. The offering leverages the NetFoundry Fabric which offers zero trust security techniques across SD WAN, MPLS and VPN and extends to endpoints such as iOS, Mac, PC and Android. The solution can also provide SASE via virtual and containerised gateways. Users can connect applications, sites and devices to the cloud using NetFoundry zero trust platform. The solution offers SASE for private data centres, offices and public clouds with virtual gateways capable of deploying anywhere. The solution also includes pre-built images for clouds such as AWS and Azure.
NetFoundry is also able to extend zero trust security to any IT or Internet of Things (IoT) device - including iOS, Windows, Mac, Android and Linux. It does this by leveraging Ziti networking SDKs to embed the solution directly into applications with no requirement for client or gateway software.
Cloud Orchestrated Networking is cloud-native and allows users to control the NetFoundry Platform and Fabric via a web console, DevOps tools or APIs. The solution is managed by NetFoundry as a NaaS service.
NetFoundry provide Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) for cloud vendors, including multi-cloud capabilities. The solution installs a zero trust network between the cloud provider and devices, networks, applications etc. The solution integrates with SecOps and DevOps as the CI/CD pipeline opens and closes to automatically connect to the cloud provider. The solution does not require VPN or MPLS connectivity, but instead NetFoundry AppWrap embeds zero trust in applications (suitable for IoT and customer managed devices). Users manage the solution via the web or API’s and NetFoundry will manage the underlying infrastructure and NaaS.
NetFoundry offer a cloud-orchestrated platform which has the capability to extend across all edges, clouds and networks, removing the need for legacy technology such as VPNs, private APNs, custom CPE, IP address and firewall rules.
Zero trust for Edge and IoT allows users to close inbound firewall ports to Edge and IoT devices, as well as cloud assets. This means that no resource can be accessed via the network. Because zero trust is agentless, it can be installed directly into IoT applications using OpenZiti SDKs. The service supports containers on VMs on cloud gateways, modems and edge devices and can deploy agents on devices such as Nvidia Jetson and Raspberry Pi.
NetFoundry offer fully managed NaaS to allow users to install software-only private networks across the Internet with cloud native endpoints and the ability to integrate with most platforms, including DevOps and identity management tools. NetFoundry say that the solution can improve Quality of Experience (QoE) over the Internet, with zero trust SASE architecture delivered across the Internet with micro-segmentation per application and integration with Identity Access Management (IAM) and hardware root of trust. Client’s IT teams can use centralised and application-specific and cloud-orchestrated controls.
NetFoundry provide a fully managed service for network infrastructure and NaaS, whilst the end user can create and manage configurations.
NetFoundry offer Commercial Best Effort for their Teams offering, 99.5% SLAs for Growth offering and 99.99% SLAs for their Enterprise offering.
