Skyhigh Networks was founded in 2011, offering a complete security platform built on a modern cloud stack. In late 2017 McAfee acquired the company intending to grow its presence in the cloud security market. In 2021 McAfee enterprise was acquired by private equity firm Symphony Technology Group to be brought within their portfolio. McAfee Enterprise products splintered into two companies, Trellix (the result of a merger between FireEye and McAfee Enterprise) and Skyhigh Security. Skyhigh Security was launched in March 2022, delivering cloud-native data security solutions, whilst Trellix focuses on extended detection and response (XDR) services. Both companies share some services, however, as they are both parts of Symphony Technology Group's portfolio. In 2022 Skyhigh Security was named Gartner® Peer Insights™ Customer's Choice for Security Service Edge.
