What are the current commission rates for BT Business Broadband Upgrades/Resigns?

In this this update, we are going to cover commission rates for Upgrade or Re-Sign broadband sales

If you're busy, the key take-aways are:

  • Like for like resigns can only be completed in the last 180 days of the customer contract.
  • Upgrades pay more when completed in the last 180 days of the customer contract.
  • Upgrades can be completed between 540 to 180 days of the customer contract but you will receive less commission.
  • Did you also know that moving a customer from Broadband Essentials to Broadband Enhanced counts as an upgrade? (Recommended in the last 180 days)
  • BT view FTTC and SOGEA as the same technology (SOGEA is the updated version of FTTC) - if you want to count FTTC to SOGEA as an upgrade commission, you must add Cloud Voice Express or migrate the customer from the Essentials package to the Enhanced package.

Before I begin, please note the following:

  • Solus refers to a stand-alone Broadband sale - i.e. SOGEA or FTTP which are sold WITHOUT Cloud Voice Express. (Solus Broadband can be sold with the full Cloud Voice product, sorry to confuse you but I can explain if needed)
  • SOGEA is the new version of FTTC+Line which is provisioned with a digital line - you need to sell Cloud Voice Express if the customer needs to retain their number and make calls or sell the full Cloud Voice for three users plus.
  • Commission is payable based on SOV (Sales order Value).
  • Always sell the 'Enhanced' Broadband package which includes EE 4G Failover and a few other features.

Remember: Give all of your sales a boost with Complete Wi-Fi for £7 when selling Enhanced Broadband or £10 when selling Essentials Broadband. Here's a quick example: £7*24=£168, 17.5% of £168=£29.40 extra per sale.

Here's the detail...

To note some of the basic rules:

  • You can only re-sign a customer in the last 180 days (6 months) of their contract - like for like re-signs before this time period will not earn any commissions. 
  • You can upgrade a customer any time from the 540 (6 months in) to 180 (final 6 months) days time periods - however, commissions payments will be less for an upgrade if they are not performed in the final 180 days (6 months) of the contract - for example:
    * 4.2% for an upgrade from ADSL to FTTC 540 days to 180 days
    * 5.6% for any upgrade to SOGEA/FTTP (with or without CVE) 540 days to 180 days

In short, always complete upgrades and resigns during the last 180 days of your customer contract for maximum commissions. 

ADSL/FTTC

  • Like for Like Resign: ADSL or FTTC 4.2% - in the final 180 days. 
  • ADSL Upgrade (the only possible upgrade would be from Essentials to Enhanced) 6.3% - in the final 180 days 
  • Upgrade to FTTC (ADSL to FTTC) 7.7% - in the final 180 days. 

SOGEA/FTTP/CVE

  • Like for Like Resign (added extras will boost this) 5.6% - in the final 180 days
  • Upgrade from ADSL to FTTC, SOGEA or FTTP 11.9% - in the final 180 days.
  • FTTC+Line to SOGEA 11.9% but only if the upgrade includes Cloud Voice Express or migration from Broadband Essentials to Enhanced. (Without CVE or the Broadband feature upgrade, commissions will be paid as a resign) - in the final 180 days.
  • ADSL, FTTC or SOGEA to FTTP with or without CVE 11.9% - in the final 180 days.

Essentials to Enhanced

Note that moving from Broadband Essentials to Broadband Enhanced is also counted as an upgrade if done in the last 180 days of contract – even if the technology does not change. I.e. FTTC Essentials to FTTC Enhanced is counted as an upgrade so 6.3% ADSL, 7.7% FTTC AND 11.9% FOR SOGEA/FTTP & CVE.
